Gun Cabinets

These were some of the most prestigious pieces made by Gordon Russell. A total of five gun cabinets were made, each to the highest standard of cabinet making, using inlay, exotic veneers, hide lining and special made details in metalwork. The first cabinet was designed by Algernon Asprey and was commissioned to hold five guns which were decorated with chased scenes of the Queen's wedding to celebrate the Jubilee. A larger cabinet designed by Trevor Chinn was commissioned to hold twenty one guns by Holland and Holland. The cabinet was lined in hide throughout and finished in Macassar Ebony with an ivory border inlay.
