Trevor Chinn

Joined the Gordon Russell drawing office directly from school in 1938, where he was trained as a designer working alongside Frank Whitton, under the overall direction of W H 'Curly' Russell.

In the post war years Trevor was not only engaged in the design of stock ranges of furniture, but was also involved in major contracts, including the furniture for the Royal Palace of Baghdad, the private apartments at Windsor Castle and Grosvenor House Hotel.

Following the retirement of W H 'Curly' Russell in 1967 he was appointed Chief Designer, controlling all `in house` design and working closely with consultants.

For many years he acted as an independant assessor for the City and Guilds examining boards, which took him to Africa.

Trevor Chinn retired in 1988, and is currently a long standing trustee of the Gordon Russell Trust, actively involved in setting up the Museum.
