Studied furniture at Royal College of Art (1949-1952). He then worked in USA before setting up his UK consultancy in 1954. From 1956-74 he was a tutor at the Royal College of Art.
He designed production furniture for an illustrious rosta of clients, including Stag, Consort and Habitat amongst others. His other projects included work for the BBC, V&A, Terminal 4 and Heathrow, Institute of Directors, The New British Library, The British Pavilion 1992, Ashmolean Museum, Hinxton Hall Cambridge and many British Embassies abroad.
In 1973 he was made a Royal Designer for Industry, in 1994 a Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art and in 1999 he was awarded an OBE for Service to Design and Craft.
